Flora Orene "Wilkie" Wilkinson, 89, of Bridge City, former resident of Orange and Temple died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Meadows Nursing Home in Orange. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Ronnie Laughlin of First Baptist Church of San Angelo and Reverend Bob Boone of First Baptist Church of Bridge City. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in West Orange. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wilkinson was born September 23, 1916 in Orange to Joe and Myrtle (Thompson) Elam. She was a manager and bookkeeper for Allen's Department Store in Bridge City and Cen-Tex Sporting Goods in Temple. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, long time member of Cove Baptist Church and provided a good and loving home for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George L. Wilkinson; sister, Joie Bates; brother, Cecil Elam and son-in-law, James Waguespack. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George Lee and Rose Wilkinson of Temple; daughters and son-in-law, Myrtis Waguespack of Orange and Elizabeth and Jerry Laughlin of Bridge City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arnold Elam of China, Texas and her very special friend, Geneva Wickware. Serving as pallbearers will be George Wilkinson, Kevin Laughlin, Johnnie Wilkinson, Daniel Waltz, Mark Milligan, Kevin Shelton and Mark Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Laughlin, Aaron Milligan and Steffan Milligan. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff at the Meadows Nursing Home and also to the staff of Odyssey Hospice.
