Darold (Rick) Nelson, Jr., 62, passed away from this life on Friday afternoon of March 9, 2007. He was a husband, father and brother to his family. He is preceded in death by his mother Mona J. Nelson and his father D.R. Nelson, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Alma Richardson of Bridge City; father and mother-in-law Leonard and Bonnie Richardson of Bridge City; daughter Kari Nelson of Bridge City; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Maranda Nelson of Bridge City; son Travis Nelson U.S. Army-Iraq. He is also survived by his sister Sheila Marler of Carencro, LA and her children Jennifer M. Lanttanzi, Rebecca M. Welch, Jake D. Marler and two great nephews and three great nieces. He has also left behind a granddaughter Kellynn E. Nelson of Bridge City and his beloved "girls" Sadie and Sophie. Rick was a Vietnam Veteran of the United State Air Force. He worked as a mechanic for 15 years at PS Tire Supply and Dupuis Chevron, during which he became a reserve officer for Orange County Sheriff's Office. He went to Lamar Police Academy and became a licensed peace officer for Orange County. His career in law enforcement included Jefferson County and Pinehurst Police Department where he retired due to health issues in Novermber of 2004. He was actively involved in CLEAT Association, and actively in the Orange First Church of the Nazerene and his community. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 12, 2007 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Orange First Church of the Nazerene where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with graveside services to follow immediately at the Cemetery.
