James "Slugger" Fredrick Freeland III, of Orange, Texas, died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Lance Faukner from Church On The Rock in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home in Orange. James was born on October 9, 1972, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was the son of James Fredrick Freeland, Jr. and Catherine Louise (Pringle) Daniels. He was a former Police Officer, was owner of Maintenance Outsource Construction Company and was a veteran of the United States Army. James enjoyed, boating and fishing, but cherished the time spent with his family more. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carmen Freeland and grandfather, Raymond "Pop" Kinder. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Bridget Kaye Berliew Freeland; eight year old son, Bailey Austin Freeland; four year old daughter, Jada Elise Freeland; grandfather, David Wesley Pringle; brother, Robert Freeland and sister, Stacy Freeland. Serving as pallbearers are Brian Mazzola, Joe Luna III, Bobby Spoonmore, Robert Freeland, Slade Hunt, Newly Hunt and Jack Abshire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' name to Gulf Credit Union, Account #64261, 4721 Hwy 87 S., Orange, Texas 77630.
