Dortha Sue Ingraham Bernauer, 86, of Bridge City, Texas died Sunday, June l8, 2006. She was born in Joplin, MO on January 6, l920. She moved to Beaumont as a child and attended South Park High School where she was active on the tennis team, class secretary and a Greenie Cadet. She attended Lamar Tech where she met the love of her life, Milton Bernauer. "Dot" and Milton married in 1940 in Beaumont. She was a resident of Port Arthur for forty years and Bridge City since l979. She has been a member of the United Methodist Temple since l940 where she has served as children's Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Coordinator and Communion Steward for many years. She was a member and officer of the Port Arthur Department Club and the Artisans Club. She was a past president and life member of the PTA in the PAISD. Dot was a member of her Knitting Club for 40 years, and her knitted baby afghans have been enjoyed by her many nieces and nephews as well as used by mission teams. She was proficient at both tennis and golf. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2l, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Chuck Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna; her father, Charles; her sister, Margie Cox; and her brother, Chester Ingraham. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 66 years, Milton. She is the beloved mother and grandmother to: sons, George Bernauer of Reagan, TX and Dale Bernauer and wife Madeleine of Lake Charles,LA; daughter, Betty Waedemon and husband, Ron of Sugar Land, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Funderburk, Danny Bernauer, Christy Bernauer, Bobby Bernauer, Mark Waedemon and David Waedemon; great-grandson, Shea Funderburk. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Ingraham and wife Evelyn; sister, Shirley Combest; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank, Lois Lewis for her love and dedicated care of Dot.
