In the matter of the Estate of Joseph Sonier dec.d In the County Court residing session in and for Orange Co. Texas for business relating to the Estate of Dec.d persons. To the Hon. W. Triplett Chief Justice Orange Co. Texas
Your Petitioner Joseph Sonier Jr. respectfully sheweth that sometime since; to wit in the month of March A.D. 1861 His father Joseph Sonier Sr. being a resident citizen of Orange Co. departed this life leaving some Estate which Petitioner sheweth needs care and attention and He prays
given cause us to grant him letters of Administration of and upon the Estate of the said dec.d - showing that he is one of the heirs of the dec.d and therefore entitled to the same. And he will ever pray etc.

Know all men by these present that we Joseph Sonier Jr. and Jacques Nogees and Joseph Guidry as the Sureties are held and firmly bound unto the Chief Justice of the County of Orange in the sum of Sixteen Hundred Dollars; for the payment of which well and truly to be made unto the said Chief Justice and bind ourselves, our heirs Executors and Administrators Jointly and Leverally firmly by these present. Signed with our hands and sealed with our Seals the seal being Scrawls, this the 25th day of November A.D. 1861. The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the above bound Joseph Sonier has been appointed by the said Chief Justice Administrator of the Estate of Joseph Sonier dec.d. Now if the said Joseph Sonier Jr. shall well and truly perform all the duties required of him under such Appointment then this Obligation shall be null and void otherwise to remain of full force and effect.

In the matter of the Estate of Joseph Sonier It is ordered that Joseph Sonier Jr. be and is hereby appointed Admn. of the Estate of Joseph Sonier dec.d is appearing that He hath given due legal notice of his application therefor and furthur it is ordered that J. B. Pevito - Ursin Boodrough & H. H. Cooper & Saml Kershaw to appraise the Estate for the said dec.d and it is ordered that the letters of Admn. issue upon his giving bond and taking oath as required by law.

To His Honor W. Triplett chief Justice of Orange County Texas your petitioner Joseph Sonier Administrator of the Estate of Joseph Sonier Dec.d would respectfully represent your Honor that there is a Negro man belonging to said Estate also one saddle and bridle that said property is of such a carrecture as will be subject to sickness and death your petitioner believes that it would be to the interest of said Estate to sell said Negro and saddle and bridle on a credit of one two and three years note bearing ten percent interest from date after raising from said sale the sum of twenty five dollars in cash for the purpose of delaying the expense of administration wherefor your petitioner asks your honor to grant him due order to sell said property as above stated and in duty bound your petitioner will ever pray etc.

And now comes Joseph Sonier Admn. on the Estate of Joseph Sonier Dec.d and leave granted assembly his original petition filed for the sale of property and says that there are no debts known to said Admn. against said estate that there are Eight heirs to said Estate all of whom are of age and there is one heir who is dec.d who has left six children who are entitled to one share of said Estate who are all opinery that it is impossible to make an Equal division of said Estate unless the same is sold as prayed for in said petition wherefor we pray your Honor to grant said Order of Sale as prayed for in said petition and in duty bound your petitioner will ever pray etc.
